Herbaceous plants include annuals, perennials, ferns, ornamental grasses, bulbs and and vines - any plant that is not woody. I teach an Herbaceous Plants Class at U.C., and these are the plants that we will cover this summer.
Here I will list some of my favorite trees and shrubs for the Midwest. I especially like the small flowering trees and flowering shrubs that fit well into our urban and suburban gardens.
Some plants are ornamental and some are just tasty! Here I'll list some great plants for the Midwest that are good to eat.
