October Gardening Activities for the Cincinnati Area

October is the time for fall garden cleanup, so your garden gets off to a fresh start next spring!

Remove dead annual and perennial foliage, clean up remaining fruits and vegetables, rake and gather leaves periodically as needed, clean up debris blowing into the beds, neaten jagged bed edging lines, clean out water gardens and ponds and cover with netting to protect from debris falling into the water, clean out birdfeeders and bird houses, clean out gutters, clean dirty and rusty tools . . .

The average high temperature is 67 degrees. The average daily low is 46. Cincinnati usually receives about 3 inches of rain in October.
